Amateur Race Car Driver's BMW Subscriptions Expire Mid-Race and Drops to Last Place After Starting First
September 14, 2023

"...It was tough to subscribe again so I had to see the victory slip through my fingers."

BUTTONWILLOW—Amateur race car driver, Sarah Mitchell, had high hopes as she revved up her BMW at the starting line. Beginning the race in the coveted pole position, she had her sights set on victory. However, fate had other plans in store for her as her BMW subscriptions suddenly expired mid-race, resulting in a dramatic tumble from first to last place.

The subscriptions that lapsed at the most inopportune moment included the M Track Package, responsible for controlling critical aspects such as throttle, fueling, and DME tuning. Losing these vital controls meant Sarah's BMW struggled to maintain its performance, leading to a disastrous loss of speed and precision on the track. The M Suspension Package, which allowed her to run the car in track specifications, became unavailable, leaving her at a significant disadvantage. Furthermore, the vanos activation, which enabled the use of the engine vanos system, was also lost.

In a post-race interview, Sarah Mitchell expressed her frustration, saying, "It's incredibly disheartening to have subscriptions expire mid-race, especially when you've worked so hard to secure pole position and have made all your prior payments on time. The sudden loss of control over my BMW was a game-changer, and it was tough to subscribe again so I had to see the victory slip through my fingers."

Mitchell's mechanic, Mark Thompson, weighed in on the incident, stating, "We should have just pulled all that junk out but they wanted to keep the warranty. But now one listens to me, I'm just a mechanic, what do I know? I don't even pay for Netflix."

Sarah Mitchell's unfortunate experience serves as a stark reminder of the impact of technology. As the world races towards digital dependence and subscriptions, it's imperative for drivers to maintain meticulous oversight over their damn bills to prevent setbacks on the track.
