INGLEWOOD—In a touching tribute to a car that's been around, Eduardo Flores, the current owner of a beloved 1994 Honda Civic, organized a 30th birthday reunion and invited all 12 previous owners to celebrate. Held at his home, the reunion brought together a diverse group of car enthusiasts, each with their own fond memories of the vehicle.
“When I bought this Civic, I knew it had been through a lot,” Flores said, greeting the guests. “It’s extremely common to find a civic with such clapped out history. But I thought, why not bring everyone together and find out what it's really been through?”
The Civic has become more than just transportation for many owners. As the party unfolded, stories of cheap repairs, theft, and B-swaps poured out.
“I owned it in 2010,” recalled Luis Rodriguez, one of the previous owners. “It was stolen on the first week. Honestly, I spent more money on the getting it back from thieves. I'm not sure why I'm here.”
Another previous owner, Sofia Torres, reminisced as well. “That Civic was a fighter. No matter how many times it was stolen, it just kept going,” she said with a smile. “I can’t believe it’s still around, that motor wasn't even original when I had it.”
For Flores, the reunion was about more than just the car’s milestone. “It’s amazing how this Civic has survived so many people,” he said. “It’s more than just a car—it’s a cheap overpriced Japanese car.”
The event was a testament to the enduring survival of stolen Hondas. If you think about it, it's had 13 owners but likely countless one night stands.
