According to sources close to the Mercedes driver, Russell initially wanted to consult Eminem—widely regarded as the rap beef authority—but was unavailable. Desperate for guidance, Russell instead turned to the next best (or at least available) option: MGK, a man best known for launching a feud against Eminem.

“Yeah, I mean, Max keeps pushing me around, and I figured I needed to go on the offensive,” Russell admitted. “Eminem was my first choice, obviously, but when I reached out, his team just sent back a single text: ‘You don’t want this.’”
That’s when Russell pivoted to MGK, whose history of beefs seemed like the best way of handling Verstappen. The two reportedly met in a dimly lit recording studio where MGK laid out a battle plan.

“First of all, I told George he needs to diss his incredible driving and how rich he is,” MGK said. “You can’t just let a guy walk all over you on track without clapping back.”

Russell, however, wasn’t sure. “You want me to compliment him?” he asked. “I’m not sure that will help. But MGK made a solid point—It doesn't matter if it works, Once I say it, I will switch genres and then he can't get me!"
