"...We could easily change our name but we're issuing this statement instead."

CRAWFORDSVILLE—Raybestos, a well-known manufacturer of automotive brakes, has recently found itself in a challenging position after an EPA ban on asbestos-containing products. In a statement released today, the company clarified that despite its name, it does not use asbestos in its products and urged consumers to continue buying their brakes.

"We want to reassure our customers that Raybestos brakes are completely asbestos-free," said a spokesperson for the company while winking. "Our name may contain 'asbestos,' but rest assured, our products do not. We could easily change our name but we're issuing this statement instead."

The EPA ban on asbestos-containing products has put a spotlight on companies with names that may be misleading. Raybestos, with its long history in the automotive industry, is one such company that has been affected. However, the company remains confident in the quality and safety of its products.

"We understand that our name may cause confusion, but we want to make it clear that our brakes are safe and do not contain asbestos," the spokesperson continued. "We have been a trusted name in the industry for many years, and changing it now would be sooooooo much work."

Despite the EPA ban and the challenges it presents, Raybestos is hopeful that consumers will continue to choose their brakes. They also affirm that if they changed their name they would have to get a new Instagram and website, it's a whole thing.
