SILICON VALLEY—RideShotty, the dating app dedicated to car enthusiasts, has experienced a significant rise in new users after lifting its “leak-free car” requirement. Previously, users had to certify that their cars didn’t leak any fluids to join, but the recent policy shift has welcomed a broader range of petrolheads.

“We recognized that car culture has very few leak-free vehicles,” said Diego Ramirez, co-founder of RideShotty. “It’s about the shared passion for cars, no matter how crappy. Whether your car has a minor oil leak or doesn't even run, the key is the love for driving. Removing the restriction has been a game-changer for our community.”

The app has seen a 40% growth in users since the rule change, allowing car enthusiasts from all backgrounds to connect without feeling judged for their shitboxes.

Carlos Rivera, a loyal RideShotty user, expressed relief at the new rule. “My old car leaks a bit of oil, my new one does too, and I used to feel like that made me less of a car guy. Before the update, I didn’t even consider joining because I thought it was only for people with perfect cars. Now, it’s more inclusive, and I’m meeting people who care about the experience, not just their driveways.”

Not everyone was initially thrilled with the change. Lucia Martinez, a classic car restorer, had her reservations. "The relaxed rules will attract people who don’t take care of their vehicles. A bunch of losers. If they can’t even properly maintain their cars, they’ve got work to do before even thinking about love."

With the surge of new members, it’s clear that RideShotty’s decision to embrace the imperfections of car ownership has made the community even stronger..
